The recent news of Donald Trump’s latest indictment charges has caused a stir in the Republican community. Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is under fire for bringing 34 felony counts against Donald Trump for falsifying business records. It’s no secret that Trump has made enemies throughout his political career, but these charges seem to be a new low in political tactics. Many within the Republican party are speaking out against what they believe to be a politically motivated attack on the former president.
Many people are questioning the timing of the charges and the motives behind them. These charges date back to a time when Trump was a private citizen and are only now being brought against him. It’s not difficult to connect the dots and see that these charges are a blatant attempt to damage Trump’s reputation.
Let’s start by examining the charges themselves. Trump’s prosecution hangs on his failure to have his accountants detail the purpose of the payments he made to his lawyer. Trump’s accountants only listed them as “legal services” in the Trump Organization’s ledgers. However, Trump’s lawyers will surely argue that the Trump Organization was not required to go into any detail about what “legal services” entailed when they made their accounting entries.

Let’s examine Hilary Clinton’s situation during the 2016 elections as a comparable case to that of her political opponent, Donald Trump. To prepare opposition research on Trump known as the Steele Dossier, Clinton enlisted the Perkins Coie law firm’s services. Between January 2016 and December 2017, Clinton paid her lawyers a combined total of $5,281,161.49 as per records held by the Federal Election Committee. All of these payments were classified as “legal services,” but it’s mandatory for campaigns to provide specifics of their expenses according to federal laws. Clinton paid for the opposition research through her campaign, which required her to report the name and address of any recipient receiving payments over $200 within a year.
Although it was required, there were no specifics regarding the “spying on Donald Trump” included in any of Clinton’s payments to her lawyers in 2016 or 2017. Clinton acknowledged last year that she violated federal election laws by failing to accurately report these payments and agreed to pay a fine as a result.

Despite admitting her wrongdoing, Hilary Clinton still faces charges from Alvin Bragg regarding violations of New York’s business record laws since Clinton, her campaign, and Perkins Coie are all based in New York and so are within Bragg’s jurisdiction. Clinton has already confessed to falsifying business records related to her submission to the Federal Election Committee and the State of New York. This confession makes it convenient for Bragg to file a lawsuit against her. According to Bragg’s interpretation of New York law, Clinton has admitted to more than 40 felonies. Bragg should take prompt legal action against Clinton to demonstrate that his prosecution of former President Trump is not politically motivated. Everyone is equal before the law, and nobody should be exempted from the law.
The weaponization of the legal system to advance a political agenda turns the rule of law on its head.

It is un-American.
The Soros-backed Manhattan District Attorney has consistently bent the law to downgrade felonies and to excuse criminal misconduct. Yet, now he is…
This is a clear case of political persecution, and it’s something that all Americans should be concerned about. Republicans across the country are speaking out against these charges, and it’s clear that many see this as an attempt to silence Trump and his supporters. It’s important that we continue to challenge these tactics and stand up for what is right. The future of our democracy depends on it.
